A new 5-mile-long fence on Hawaii's Big Island has one purpose: to keep out cats. Felines have thrived on the island since they arrived on explorers' ships and are threatening to wipe out the petrel, a seabird that breeds on Mauna Loa, the world's largest volcano. Thousands of the birds live in Hawaii, but researchers have identified just 75 pairs on the Big Island.
