State names new parks boss after sudden demotion

A controversial Public Service Commission member will take over the Florida parks system, the state announced Tuesday. Lisa Edgar's term on the commission ends this month, and she has no background in state parks. The announcement follows the unexplained demotion of longtime Florida State Parks boss Donald Forgione, who was reassigned last week to run a single park in Gainesville. Forgione joined the state Department of Environmental Protection as a park ranger in 1983 and worked his way up to director in 2010.
