Las Vegas police this week infiltrated and disbanded the largest cockfighting ring in Nevada's history. Robert Sigal, a detective in the police department's animal cruelty unit, said 550 roosters and hens were seized from a private home. About 40 were euthanized, and shelter officials are struggling to find space for the others. Stacks of crowded cages fill an Animal Foundation garage.
