Chevron accepted subsidy for high-rise that remains unbuilt

In the summer of 2013, Texas' then-governor, Rick Perry (R), announced that Chevron Corp. would build a 50-story tower in downtown Houston. The $662 million project was set to generate more than 1,700 high-paying jobs in the area. With high hopes for the project, the state provided $12 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund to close the deal on the expansion project.
