Senate panel OKs 5 bills to boost oversight of rule writers

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee approved five bills today that would alter how agencies issue regulations. On their way to the Senate floor: the "Regulatory Accountability Act," "Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act," the "Midnight Rules Relief Act," the "Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act" and the "Early Participation in Regulations Act."
