Regs set tougher standards for organic livestock

The Department of Agriculture released regulations yesterday that will hold organic meat and egg producers to stricter animal welfare standards. The rule will ensure that organically grown livestock can lie down, turn around, stand up and stretch their limbs, and will also prohibit growers from removing poultry beaks or cattle tails.
