For this first time in more than six years, the Alaska Board of Game will entertain proposals to restore a no-kill zone for wolves around Denali National Park and Preserve. The National Park Service and the Denali park-based Denali Citizens Council, working with the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, have submitted proposals to protect the wolves from trapping and hunting. Last month, Gov. Bill Walker (I) filed a lawsuit that challenges the authority of the Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to ban such practices on national wildlife refuges and preserves.
