Ex-wildlife official gets maximum sentence for 2014 rape

A former Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife official yesterday got the maximum sentence for raping a coworker in her sleep, leaving his victim crying with relief in the courtroom. Thurston County Superior Court Judge James Dixon sentenced Greg Schirato to 125 months to life in prison for breaking into the woman's home after a Fish and Wildlife holiday party and attacking her. "I believe Mr. Schirato is a predator," Dixon said. "I believe this community needs to be protected from Mr. Schirato. I believe our community has a right to be heard, I believe [the victim] has a right to be heard."
