Morale has taken a hit at U.S. EPA's Region 9 office in San Francisco, workers say, with policy changes and budget cutbacks angering staff. In interviews with the San Francisco Chronicle, current and former employees say the Trump administration is actively hindering agency work. Lynda Deschambault, an employee of more than two decades who enforced pollution laws and Superfund cleanups, recalled a performance review over the summer in which a supervisor told her to "be as invisible as possible."
