Arnold Schwarzenegger: Mary Nichols is a 'big, big star'

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the blockbuster movie star and former Republican governor of California, has touted the state's top air official for EPA administrator. Schwarzenegger, in a virtual interview with conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt as part of a Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum event yesterday, noted he hired Nichols in 2007 to run the California Air Resources Board. "Mary Nichols is fantastic," Schwarzenegger said. "Since then, she has done such an extraordinary job." Nichols is considered a top candidate to lead EPA for the incoming Biden administration. Known as a prominent climate change expert, she has fought against the rollback of Obama-era clean car standards as well as the Trump EPA pulling back California's Clean Air Act waiver for greenhouse gas emissions. Nichols also led EPA's air office during the Clinton administration.
