摘要

The biggest utilities in California will have to contribute more investments and infrastructure for large electric vehicle charging projects under state legislation passed last night. The bill, A.B. 841, would require the California Public Utilities Commission to develop language by June that will force utilities to help pay for some of the largest charging projects in the state. The move came as California aims to put 5 million zero-emission vehicles on its roads by 2030. Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gases in the state, accounting for 41% of emissions. That goal could be disrupted by a lack of charging stations. The bill's sponsor, Assemblyman Phil Ting (D), noted that the California Energy Commission estimates the state is on track to come up short by 80,000 chargers out of a planned 250,000 public EV charging stations by 2025.
