Top aide to succeed Region 5 chief

Kurt Thiede will be EPA's next Region 5 administrator, the agencyannounced today.Thiede has served as chief of staff to Cathy Stepp, the current regionaladministrator for Region 5, since early 2018. Before coming to EPA, he wasdeputy secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, wherehe also served under Stepp, who was then secretary."Kurt Thiede's commitment to public service and passion for the GreatLakes region make him an excellent choice to lead the Region 5 office,"said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler in a statement.
