A former technician is suing the operators of a Department of Energy lab over exposure to a hazardous degreaser that EPA has delayed acting on. Joseph Marino used trichloroethylene, or TCE, to clean supercomputers at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the 1990s and early 2000s. He's seeking $25 million from the lab's operators after cancer caused him to lose a kidney and the workers' compensation system gave him only $65,000. He said the lab was negligent in giving the cleaner to workers without adequate protection or warning. Marino's lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
