The criminal called his lizard "Flash," an innocent moniker that masked a felonious secret.Flash was a yellow-headed water monitor lizard illegally captured in the Philippines. In March 2016, court recordsshow, Flash and several other lizards were stuffed into socks, which were sealed closed with tape and concealedinside the back panels of electronic equipment.Shipped under a false label to the Massachusetts residence of a man named Derrick Semedo, the lizards forwhich Semedo paid an average of $450 each entered the underground exotic pet market where they were eachvalued at approximately $2,500.
