Court revives bid to ban lead ammo in Kaibab

A federal appeals court yesterday breathed new life into a bid by conservationists to force the Forest Service toban lead ammunition in Arizona's Kaibab National Forest.For the second time, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower court ruling that dismissed thelawsuit.The Center for Biological Diversity, Sierra Club and Grand Canyon Wildlands Council contend that theammunition is toxic to scavengers like the endangered California condor.They originally filed their lawsuit in 2012, seeking to force the Forest Service to restrict its use in the 1.6-millionacreforest.
