Feds sue W.Va. governor's companies for $4.8M

Jim Justice's coal companies yesterday in hopes of recouping$4.8 million in unpaid fines for mine safety violations.The civil complaint, filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia, named 23 companiesoperating mines in Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky that the billionaire Justice stillowns, despite assurances his family is now running operations.Local U.S. Attorney Thomas Cullen said the companies have refused to pay off citations for more than 2,000safety violations racked up in the last five years.
