Funding deal prods USDA on 'unknown costs' of relocation

The fiscal 2019 spending deal congressional appropriators reached yesterday would prod the Agriculture Department to rethink parts of its planned relocation of two USDA agencies - but it wouldn't necessarily halt the move. The joint explanatory statement accompanying the appropriations measure for the rest of fiscal 2019 directs the Agriculture secretary to provide more detailed information on costs and savings from moving the Economic Research Service and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture out of the National Capital Region.
