The abiding memories of Turner are seascapes tiled with disaster, sailing ships in horrific battle scenes and flaming red skies; and most of these are oil paintings. But there is another side to his artistic talent, his "great watercolours" which are featured in a collected display currently on show at the Royal Academy to coincide with the 150th anniversary of his death.
