Following hot on the heels of the launch of the UPX-2000, Sony's digital passport photography system has won government approval for its use within UK passports. 'Our aim is to provide an instant photograph system that is easy to use and improves on the traditional passport photo service, says Navpreet Maingi, marketing manager for Sony Digital Photography. Designed to operate without computer hardware, the UPX-2000 provides a professional ID system capable of handling high volume sales through a "point and click" solution. It is envisaged that the average retailer, selling 40 sets of pictures a week, will recoup the initial investment in four to six months.
