When baseband processing is implemented in software, developers have more control and flexibility over processing and can trade off sensitivity for reduced power consumption. In addition to the methods used to reduce processing load during worst-case operating conditions, developers can employ a wide range of techniques to specifically reduce power consumption. Note that the actual impact on power consumption is highly dependent upon the particular system implementation.
