LED erodes CCFL share in backlighting apps

With their longer life cycle, higher color saturation, adjustable radiation frequency, and extensive safety and environment-friendly features, mainland China LEDs are slowly eating into CCFL market share. The aggregate production output of backlights manufactured in mainland China was pegged at 6 billion units in 2006,and is forecast to scale up by at least 10 percentthis year. The projection is expected to carry over into 2008, should market demand sustain current growth rates of 30 percent annually.
