My Path in Tectonics

摘要

I became interested in theoretical aspects of tectonics just after graduating from institute, that is, about 70 years ago, and touched upon a problem of the relationships between tectonics and sedimentation as early as in my paper presented to the XVII Session of International Geological Congress in 1937. Since then I have kept an eye, to the extent of my strength, on progress in this science, as is reflected in my papers, monographs, and textbooks, where I comment on the trend of developments in tectonics from my own view. Because these publications exhibit, to some extent, the evolution of tectonics over many decades, it seemed me not uninteresting to impart my review to the readers of Geotectonics. I entitled this review My Path in Tectonics following the great Stanislavsky, who named his famous article My Path in Art, by no means pretending to his glory.
