Sergei Vasil'evich Ruzhentsev, an outstanding scientist and tectonist, a laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, major researcher of the Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor, Doctor of Sciences in Geology and Mineralogy, has turned seventy. All his creative activity is related to the Geological Institute, and he is a shining example of the institute's tectonic school. Academician A.V. Peive made a great contribution to the development of Ruzhentsev as a geologist-tectonist and inculcated in him a mobilistic ideology concerning the formation of terrestrial foldbelts.
