Fundamental Problems of Geotectonics in Selected Works by Yu.M. Pushcharovsky

摘要

The selected works of the outstanding scientist-geologist and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yu.M. Pushcharovsky appeared in print in 2005. The edition concerns the fundamental problems of tectonics and geodynamics and presents the main publications by Pushcharovsky in various fields of tectonics of continents, oceans, and the Earth as a whole. The publications are put together into two volumes: General Problems of Tectonics and Geodynamics (Vol. 1) and Tectonics of Oceans (Vol. 2). Both books are considerable in volume (730 pages in total). They reflect, with exhaustive completeness, the creative diapason of the author and demonstrate the diversity of his scientific interests and in-depth study of the most involved problems of modern geotectonics. His investigations on the regional geology of Russia and other countries have been generally recognized. Pu-shcharovsky's talent was revealed in its entirety when the general features of the structure and evolution of major tectonic units of the Earth became the main subjects of his studies.
