摘要

How do the meanings we ascribe to the places we live in, and the feelings these places arouse in us, affect our health? This second volume in the Ashgate Geographies of Health series addresses this neglected question. Environmental, economic and social characteristics of region and locality have had quite a lot of attention as determinants of population health. In contrast this book sets out to engage with the relationships that individual people form with places and the role these may have as psychological and social determinants of health.
