Stadium Worlds: Football, Space and the Built Environment

Ever since my Father brought home a copy of Simon Inglis's The Football Grounds of Great Britain (1987) and a copy of Inglis's The Football Grounds of Europe (1990) stadia have always held me in rapture, captured my attention and unleashed my imagination. Whether in physical contact or represented form, the stadium has always seemed a significant place. Football stadia are also important elements in the make up of urban life as well as representations of urban form (see Home 2011 on the nature of sports stadia and world class cities' status).
