A note and vote of appreciation for Hilary Backhouse

Ms. Hilary Backhouse will be retiring as editorial assistant to Geoforum in March 2013. We the editors, and former editors, of Geoforum would like to pay tribute to her and the massive contribution she has made to the journal over the years. Each of us has our own stories - too many to recount - of the ways in which Hilary has helped us and furthered the work of the journal immeasurably. Her knowledge of systems and processes, willingness to investigate and answer questions and ability to foresee and head off problems before they arise are unrivalled. We were very lucky to have you at the journal Hilary and it has been a privilege to work with you. Thank you.
