Trust It or Trash It? A Tool for Evaluating the Quality of Genetic Information

Health-related information is available from a wide variety of sources, some of them trustworthy, some not. The determination of which information to believe can be very difficult, especially when the information is new and unfamiliar. Trust It or Trash It?, the subject of the roundtable discussion below, is a free, online tool that helps the public and health professionals assess the quality of information related to genetics and health. The tool was created as part of the Access to Credible Genetics Resources Network, a partnership directed by Genetic Alliance, in Washington, D.C. Condition-specific advocates, healthcare providers, genetics professionals, and health educators contributed to the tool's development and pilot testing.
