Die bestehende Erfassungs-und Recyclingpraxis von Elektro- und Elektronikaltgeräten (EAG) weist in Deutschland erhebliche Defizite auf. Die europäische WEEE-Richtlinie und das deutsche Elektro- und Elektronikgesetz regeln zwar das Handling von EAG und ihre Schadstoffentfrachtung, es fehlen jedoch bislang spezifische gesetzliche Regelungen für ein hochwertiges Recycling. Zur Stärkung eines möglichst hochwertigen Recyclings müssen die Erfassungsquote gesteigert und differenzierte, materialspezifische Separations- und Recyclingquoten festgelegt werden. Laut dem NABU sollten die Maßnahmen in gesetzlichen Vorgaben sowohl in einer Behandlungsverordnung für Elektroaltgeräte, als auch in der Novellierung des ElektroG noch in dieser Legislaturperiode festgeschrieben werden. The European WEEE Directive and the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) regulate the handling and depollution of WEEE, but until now there have been no specific legal provisions for high-quality recycling. To maximise recycling quality, the collection rate needs to be increased, and differentiated, material-specific separation and recycling rates need to be established. In NABU's view, these measures should be laid down in statutory provisions - in a regulation for the treatment of waste electrical equipment and in an amendment to the ElektroG - before the end of this legislative period.
