All coating processes require that defective parts be stripped before re-working. In the case of organic coatings, chemical stripping methods are attractive. The composition of such strippers depends on the substrate material and coating type used. Strippers should remove coatings rapidly and completely. They should not attack the substrate and should pose the minimum threat to health and safety as well as to the environment.
