In einem dreiteiligen Beitrag werden Organische Metalle als eine neue Stoffklasse vorgestellt. Im ersten Teil werden die Eigenschaften beschrieben, und es wird ein Überblick über verschiedene erste Anwendungen und spätere Anwendungsmöglichkeiten gegeben. Es wird geschildert, inwiefern das erste kommerzielle Organische Metall, ORMECON~®, nennenswerte Kosteneinsparungen und positive Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt haben kann, im Korrosionsschutz, in der Galvanotechnik und in der Leiterplattenherstellung. In Teil 2 wird das neue Korrosionsschutzprinzip, basierend auf dem Organischen Metall, diskutiert, Grundlagen und anwendungstechnische Aspekte werden beleuchtet. In Teil 3 wird die Anwendung in der Leiterplattenherstellung - eine neue Zinn-Endoberfläche als Alternative für HAL bzw. auch zu Gold oder Palladium -vorgestellt und diskutiert.%In a three-part series, organic metals are described as an entirely new class of material. Part 1 describes the general properties and provides an overview of the initial applications and subsequent developments in that area. An estimate is offered of the extent to which the first proprietary organic metal ORMECON~® offers significant cost-savings and positive environmental implications in the broad areas of corrosion protection, in electroplating and printed circuit board manufacture. In Part 2, a new approach to corrosion protection based on use of organic metals is described. Basic principles and technical applications are included. Part 3 deals with use of the new materials in the printed circuit board industry - a new tin top-coat as alternative for HAL as well as gold or palladium is presented and discussed.
