Birmingham City Council is considering plans by competition winner Capita Lovejoy for a new ￡1,5m public square in the city's historic Jewellery Quarter.rnThe proposal, following Capita Lovejoy winning the international design competition last year, is for the square to be at the heart of a major revamp of the area, home to more than 1,500 businesses and 200 listed buildings, and which produces more than 40 per cent of all the jewellery made in the UK every year. Capita Lovejoy is leading a design team which includes architecture practice Bryant Priest Newman and lighting design practice Light Bureau.
