John Mathers gets honorary doctorate

CEO of the Design Council John Mathers has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Birmingham City University. With more than 30 years of experience in the brand and design industry, Mathers has successfully led a number of marketing, brand and design consultancies in the UK and internationally. He joined the Design Council in 2012 following an international CEO role at the Holmes & Marchant group. Prior to this he had been at the helm of the Brand Union for 10 years (formerly Enterprise IG), WPP's flagship brand design agency, as well as having secured a number of high-profile roles within the Fast Moving Consumer Goods and retail industry, including head of brand at Safeway.
