This paper presents a successful application of fuzzy measures for describing interaction in fine root biomass dispersal models. Fine roots are roots with diameter smaller than 2 mm which are responsible for the soil water reception of trees. A root dispersal model based on point process theory is presented. In this approach interaction effects are taken into account by modelling the intensity function using discrete Choquet integrals. It is shown that the combination of cluster point processes and the modelling of interaction effects by fuzzy measures lead to improved models for the root dispersion. An example for the root dispersion in a stand with beeches and spruces in Saxony/Germany is presented.
