摘要

Just as the label 'fuzzy sets' had its origin in the paper of that title by Lotfi A. Zadeh (Information and Control, 1965), he also introduced the terms 'fuzzy sets and systems' the same year in the title of a paper presented at the Symposium on System Theory held at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Both works opened an important area of study and application in fields including mathematics, computer science and control theory.
