Editorial

This special issue of Fuzzy Sets and Systems contains full papers resulting from selected contributions originally presented at the EUROFUSE 2011 Workshop on Fuzzy Methods for Knowledge-based Systems, which was held at the Museu do Douro in Regua (Portugal), in September 21-23, 2011. EUROFUSE was established in 1998 as the EURO (Association of European Operational Research Societies) Working Group on Fuzzy Sets, being a successor of the former European Chapter of IFSA (International Fuzzy Systems Association). EUROFUSE 2011 was the next in a series of EUROFUSE workshops, including EUROFUSE 1999 (Budapest), EUROFUSE 2000 (Mons), EUROFUSE 2001 (Granada), EUROFUSE 2002 (Varenna), EUROFUSE 2004 (Warsaw), EUROFUSE 2005 (Belgrade), EUROFUSE 2007 (Jaen) and EUROFUSE 2009 (Pamplona).
