Eurex US is approved; Chicago operation launched

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) long have authored key moments in the history of futures trading. On Feb. 8, the world's volume king of recent years, Eurex AG, which has written a few chapters of its own, put the finishing touches on another by beginning active operations of its new Chicago-based venture, Eurex US, just four days after receiving its final regulatory approval. Eurex US lists futures and options on 30-, 10-, five- and two-year U.S. Treasuries. It traded 39,441 futures its first day. No options traded.
