摘要

Depth profiling analysis for alloys which were corroded by liquid alkali metal can provide information on elemental distributions that is useful for determination of corrosion degree. In our work, laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was introduced to probe trends of elemental concentration in surface layer of weld type 316 L stainless steel (316 L SS) after 450℃, 30 days exposure in liquid lithium. Submicron-scale depth resolution was obtained for distribution of the main elements of the substrate, especially for lithium penetrating the corroded layer. This work proves the ability of LIBS as a technique on evaluation of material corrosion behavior.
