The azimuthal distribution of diffraction reflexes from the spontaneous gratings, induced by laser radiation (λ = 633 nm) of various polarization in thin AgCl films, doped by granular Ag, is studied. A decrease of angular width of reflexes under the action of linearly polarized radiation with increasing exposure time t and an increase of the width with increasing beam ellipticity at constant t were revealed. To explain the experimental data, we have taken into consideration excitation of TE waveguide modes in films due to light scattering by Rayleigh-type centers, linear dichroism induced in absorptive AgCl-Ag films during the irradiation process, and the growth of spontaneous gratings due to positive feedback.
