FROZEN SECTOR KEEPING LOCKED DOWN BRITAIN WELL FED BATTLING bravely! That was the defiant message from the frozen and chilled sector in the Lincolnshire and Humber region as Covid-19 continued to play havoc with business. The pandemic has hit many companies in the sector. While foodservice has collapsed following the closure of restaurants and canteens, causing real problems for some suppliers, the frozen and chilled retail side has held up reasonably well. Panic buying at the start of the lockdown led to a surge in sales as consumers filled up their freezers and fridges, in the mistaken belief food was going to run out.
