The combination of appropriate standards fur the processing, distribution and presentation of audiovisual informs - tion allows for the first time in the history of broadcasting the design of interactive applications thus giving the spec - tator the possibility for a content-driven access on the presentation of a TV program. The processing of the pro - gram is done by using MPEG-2 techniques, additional program - specific information can be handled in a user - friendly way by MPEG-4 techniques.
