摘要

The properties of periodically L-C loaded microstrip transmission lines are utilized to shrink the physical dimensions of patch antennas. A transmission line model is employed to analyze the electrical behavior of antenna configurations with a varying number of L-C loaded unit cells. Two representative antenna structures have been selected and subsequently optimized with full wave electromagnetic analysis. Return loss and radiation pattern measurements of these antennas proof the developed concept for compact microstrip antennas in the lower GHz frequency range.
