Azimuthally Corrugated Structures: Basic Types, Applications, and Perspectives of Development

摘要

In this paper, we briefly review the basic types of azimuthally corrugated structures (ACS), which are presently used in various electron devices. Despite of substantial differences in the requirements for the ACS employed in microwave and millimeter-wave devices of different types, they can be considered in the framework of a unified theory. Various types of ACS are considered in terms of symmetry and periodicity, starting from conventional magnetron-type structures with sectorial resonators, which are most widely used, to those with smooth shapes of corrugations, which are still exotic. Some perspective directions of further development of ACS are discussed in connection with the problems related to further development of powerful electron devices.
