摘要

A recently proposed new theorem, stating the electromagnetic field in any homogeneous domain is uniquely determined by the knowledge of the electric or magnetic field at one single point and in a small neighborhood around that point, is applied to two-dimensional fields. In particular, the question of so-called "non-radiating sources" discussed in the context of inverse-scattering schemes is illuminated from a different point of view. Finally, based on that new theorem the paper includes an alternate way to derive a multipole expansion of a plane electromagnetic wave.
