Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lorenz-Peter Schmidt on the occasion of his 60th birthday

On August 21, 2009, Professsor Dr.-Ing. Lorenz-Peter Schmidt is going to complete the 60th year of his life. This is a golden opportunity to pay tribute to his enormous scientific work and wide field of engagement.rnProfessor Schmidt was born in Oster Schnatebuell, in the very northern part of Germany. After elementary and secondary school he studied electrical engineering at the Rheinisch-Westfalische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen and obtained his Dipl.-Ing. degree in 1974. Afterwards he worked employed as research assistant at the Institut fiir Hochfrequenztechnik of the RWTH Aachen and received his Dr.-Ing. degree in 1979 for a thesis on the analysis of transverse discontinuities in microstrip lines.
