Quick—name the CEO of much-hyped Internet startup Loudcloud. If you guessed Marc Andreessen, you're beginning to understand why Ben Horowitz could be called the Rodney Dangerfield of startup CEOs. Talk about getting no respect: Tech trade magazine Red Herring photographed Andreessen, Loud-cloud's chairman, standing with Horowitz, the CEO, and other Loudcloud employees. But when its story came out, poof!—Horowitz was nowhere to be found, cropped out of the photo altogether. Then there was that time that a politician canceled a meeting with the company when he learned that Andreessen would not be there. But the disrespect doesn't seem to bother Horowitz as much as it might some CEOs. He understands that that's life when you work in the shadow of an Internet legend—once enthroned on the cover of Time—even if the legend is only 29. "I don't like the limelight," says Horowitz, "so it doesn't bother me much."
