Food engineering research at Reading

In contrast to many university departments Food Engineering Research at Reading, is carried out in a genuine 'food' environment. The 'engineering team' headed by Professor Leo Pyle, has seven members of academic teaching staff and about fifteen research students, in addition to research assistants and technicians. External funding sources include the Research Councils, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food (MAFF), European Union (EU) and several industries. In addition to computer based modelling facilities the Department houses an extensive range of pilot-plant processing equipment, valued at well over £3 Million.
