A dead rat and a kitchen thick of grease - the filthy state of a Stockton Indian restaurant before it closed down. A hygiene inspector discovered the disgusting conditions at Jaipur Tandoori, on Prince Regent Street, after spotchecking the business in January 2017. A decomposing rat was found in the food storage area, and walls, floors, doors, taps and food preparation surfaces were all dirty, Teesside Magistrates’ Court heard. A bottle of disinfectant was stuck to a shelf due to the amount of dirt that had accumulated, and “raw chicken was kept next to milk and ready-to-eat prawn cocktail sauce.”
