Since the introduction of the Packaging Waste Regulations in 1997, UK commerce has been obliged to meet the legislation with some companies viewing compliance as a chore. This need not be the case; companies should perhaps be looking to make process improvements in order to meet packaging targets whilst at the same time making compliance a long term environmental and financial opportunity. One of the most effective means by which to cut financial and environmental costs is through re-examining the supply chain Often, it is here where resources are needlessly wasted and the issue of minimisation is not thoroughly addressed.
