The Cornucopia Institute claims a USDA report enforces the group's concern that large, conventional food companies and imported commodities erode the domestic organic food industry. The USDA report, "Emerging Issues in the U.S. Organic Industry," published in June, is not quite so explicit, but does acknowledge escalating competition from conventional food manufacturers entering the organic market and companies that increasingly are looking to China and other countries for imports of organic foods and ingredients.
